Teeth whitening

If you’ve ever felt self-conscious about the colour of your teeth, whitening may be a smart remedy. Teeth whitening is a completely safe process that can be done in at home. Individual results vary depending on your initial tooth colour and the extent of your tooth discolouration

What causes teeth to become discoloured?

Teeth can lose their natural whiteness for a number of reasons including diet, ageing, certain medications, smoking and trauma. If you have been affected by any of these, we can help brighten your smile.

How can I arrange for my teeth-whitening treatment?

You’ll need to make an appointment at the surgery for an initial assessment. Once we have established that the treatment is appropriate for you, impressions will be taken so that we can create custom-made whitening trays (similar to a thin gum shield). We’ll show you how to apply the whitening gel and insert the moulds properly so that you can do this yourself at home, and we will advise you how often you should treat your teeth for the best results.

How often will I need to re-whiten my teeth?

Whitening is not a permanent solution and re-whitening can be done as often as you need. You can discuss your whitening schedule with your dentist, and they will advise which whitening products would work best for you in between sessions.

What if I have crowns or dentures?

The whitening gel won’t work on any crowns, veneers or dentures you may have, but these can be replaced to match your newly whitened teeth.
